YARS Meeting Minutes for February 3, 2009 Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m. The first discussion was an issue raised by Alison KI6IMU. She is wondering how new hams and non-technical people can get help and answers to their questions. In particular, the first bit of publicity about the radio group working with the UC Davis EOC generated quite a bit of interest, and it's likely that many of these people will need mentoring. Greg KG6SJT mentioned that Gary M. WA6TQJ held an event at the Woodland Red Cross where experienced hams were on hand at various stations to demonstrate and answer questions for the new hams. In the end, Alison says that she will be happy to talk to new people and find out their needs. YARS members will be available as a resource as needed.
